Integration of discrete fracture networks and flow simulator for quantification of hydrogeological uncertainty

In this study, a discrete fracture network model (DFN) and groundwater flow simulation were applied to fractured aquifer of an open-pit mine. Conditional the systems was developed quantify evaluate uncertainty geological structures predict possible hydrogeological risks associated with these uncertainties. The method used based on statistical characterization spatial distribution scenarios lengths, directions openings, as well their influence water behavior. configuration generated using Poisson processes, while lengths angles by Gaussian simulation. Flow performed Modflow software. resulting honored field data quantified evaluated distribution. addition, study able demonstrate practical aspects proposed method, which can then be increase planning operational effectiveness mines.
